Sub-security plate

Sub-security plate

The Cubis Systems sub-security plate works as a secondary cover. It provides an additional layer of protection for below-ground infrastructure in high-risk or sensitive locations.

Designed as part of our integrated network access system, it helps restrict unauthorised chamber access while supporting robust, dependable asset protection.

Sub-security plates are typically specified where additional access control is required for high-risk or sensitive sites. Get in touch to discuss applications for your project.

Product highlights

🛡️ Added security

Steel plates are bolted into the chamber’s top-ring section, providing a secondary barrier if a cover is removed without authorisation.

🦯 Proven resistance to attack

The system has withstood prolonged attack with heavy hand tools for more than 20 minutes, helping protect vulnerable and valuable network assets.

🔐 Padlock flexibility

Integrated steel loops allow a padlock of your choice to be fitted, enabling access control aligned with your site’s security requirements.

🛠️ Straightforward installation

Easy to fit, but difficult to break into. The sub-security plate is designed for straightforward installation, with tools that are readily available on-site.

Tested for fire performance

Successfully fire tested, the sub-security plate delivers added reassurance where robust performance is essential. This video shows how the secondary cover works in action to protect both the chamber and cables within against damage from fire.

Security options and system components

Security options and system components

The sub-security plate is an optional extra, rather than part of a standard chamber set-up. It is supplied in single- or multiple-plate form and includes:

  • Two support angles, including one with a locking tab
  • A locking bar
  • Security plate(s)

The system is installed within the chamber top-ring section and can be secured using a compatible padlock selected by the customer.

We can also accommodate additional security options including bespoke locking. Depending on the cover type, these can include bolt-down locks, spring-loaded cylinder locks, security bolts and screws, captive hinges, or provision for a locking kit to be fitted retrospectively.

Bespoke locking solutions are also available, including keys adapted to the end user’s requirements. Contact us to discuss custom security details.

Installation overview

  • 1. Prepare the system and fixings

Each sub-security system is supplied in either single- or multiple-plate form. The system includes two support angles—one with a locking tab—a locking bar and security plate(s).

You will also need four M12 bolts, oversize washers (50 × 50 × 3 mm), nyloc nuts and a drill with a 14 mm drill bit. Bolt length will vary depending on the STAKKAbox™ chamber being used.

  • 2. Position and mark the support angles

Fit the support angles to the short sides of the chamber. Mark the centre of both the support angle and the inside of the chamber to ensure they align correctly.

Position each angle centrally, 20mm from the bottom of the top chamber section, then mark the drilling points.

  • 3. Drill and secure the support angles

Drill the marked holes completely through the chamber wall.

Bolt each support angle to the inside of the chamber, tightening until firmly secured. Position the nuts on the outside of the chamber.

  • 4. Fit the security plates

Fit the security plates to the installed support angles. For a three-plate configuration, install the two outer plates first, followed by the centre plate.

  • 5. Install the locking bar

Fit the locking bar to complete the installation. Add a compatible padlock through the locking arrangement to restrict access.

Please note: Cubis Systems does not supply the padlock.
