Instant carbon insights
The latest innovation in the Cubis BIM
Specifiers face mounting pressure to deliver infrastructure that is both high-performing and sustainable.
Clients are increasingly demanding lower-carbon solutions. Meanwhile, regulators are tightening reporting requirements. And, from a policy perspective, net-zero commitments are reshaping procurement.
Against this backdrop, accurately understanding the environmental impact of each specified product is becoming mission-critical. Yet gathering, comparing, and applying reliable carbon data can be complex and time-consuming.
Cubis Systems has responded with an update to the Cubis BIM platform that makes sustainable specification simpler. Now, for the first time, specifiers can access itemised CO2 and Global Warming Potential values directly within the BIM configurator. This means immediate visibility of each product’s embodied carbon – making it easier than ever to design with confidence.
🖥️ The Cubis Building Information Modelling (BIM) tool
As the only manufacturer in our space to offer a free BIM tool, Cubis is already committed to making infrastructure specification smarter and more sustainable.
Our configurator is a free-to-use digital resource for designers. It allows you to easily find the required Cubis Systems components, configure as needed, download in over 100 file formats, and integrate into your planning software with just a few clicks.
Key benefits of the Cubis BIM tool include:
- 👉A faster, more accurate way to design with Cubis products
- 👉Access to technical details, drawings, and configuration options in real-time
- 👉Compatibility with major design software, enabling seamless integration into infrastructure models
This streamlined process helps reduce waste – offering a modern, sustainable way to specify. However, we thought we could add even further value by way of our EPDs.
📝Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)
Cubis Systems undertakes third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations across our product portfolio. These EPDs provide transparent, standardised data on the environmental impacts of our solutions. They include, for example, embodied carbon, resource use, and end-of-life considerations.
For designers, these EPDs allow for a full-picture view of the products they’re specifying and their carbon impact. They make it possible to more rounded decisions that are based not just on technical performance, but also on environmental responsibility.
As part of our ongoing R&D efforts, we spotted an opportunity to integrate this transparent sustainability data with our technical BIM tool.
🆕A key update to the Cubis BIM tool
In our latest update, we’ve embedded EPD data directly into the Cubis BIM library. Each product listing now features its carbon per kg value. So, specifiers can instantly see the environmental footprint associated with their chosen product.
This integration provides:
- 👉Immediate visibility of environmental impact at design stage
- 👉A clear, comparable metric for embodied carbon across solutions
- 👉A smarter way to align with sustainability targets and reporting requirements

✅Benefits for specifiers and designers
By combining BIM functionality with EPD transparency, Cubis is helping specifiers streamline their workflow while meeting the industry’s growing need for carbon-conscious design.
With embodied carbon data available at the click of a button, it becomes significantly easier to:
- 👉Calculate the carbon impact of a full project design
- 👉Compare alternative solutions to achieve sustainability goals
- 👉Align with PAS 2080, net-zero targets, and client ESG commitments
“The integration of carbon data into our BIM library is a practical innovation designed to save specifiers time and give them confidence in their design decisions. By making embodied carbon values visible upfront, we’re helping the industry move towards more sustainable infrastructure without adding complexity to the design process.” Ted Cook, Senior Specification Engineer at Cubis Systems
💡Innovation that makes life easier
This update is part of our ongoing focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer support here at Cubis Systems. By embedding EPD data into our BIM configurator, we’re giving specifiers the tools they need to design greener, smarter, and faster.
Ultimately, we’re not just a manufacturer. We’re also here to help make life easier for engineers and drive the infrastructure industry toward a more sustainable future.
