LPCB Security Cover and Large Network Access Chamber System

On a recent major water infrastructure project the challenge was to build a new access chamber system around an existing live mains water pipe and replace it with a new static mixer, ensuring that it was securely covered.

The solution involved overbuilding an ULTIMA Connect Chamber around the existing water pipe, isolating and removing it, replacing with a static mixer, covering the chamber with a concrete reducing slab, adding ladder access to the mixer and installing a bespoke LPCB certified Galvanised Mild Steel Upstand Cover.

In the 4 hour time slot available the contractor was able to build and backfill the chamber up to 1050mm high, remove the existing pipe and then install the static mixer. Once the mixer was installed the remainder of the chamber was built and backfilled and the cover slab, cover and ladder were installed. A significant time saving for the contractor whilst offering a strong, highly secure solution.
