Cubis Systems Shortlisted by Highways UK for 2018 Materials Innovation Hub Challenge
Cubis Systems are proud to announce that they have been shortlisted by Highways UK for the ‘Infrastructure and Structures Around the Pavement’ category at this year’s Materials Innovation Awards being held on the 7th/ 8th of November at the NEC, Birmingham.
Cubis’ proposal is based on our unique cable protection system, MULTIduct™. MULTIduct™ is an innovative, lightweight, structural, multiple duct system that offers significant benefits to traditional cable ducting systems in highway applications. Already widely in use in other market sectors, it offers the highways sector a simpler, safer, faster and more economical approach to installing communication and power cables than traditional construction techniques. It is also durable and future proof, in that once installed additional cables can be added without digging.
Multiducts’ high structural strength means it can be buried at very shallow depths in the verge (300mm) reducing excavation of site material. Being square shaped in section, it offers 25% more duct space for cables. Unlike a multi-layer approach needed for standard ducting, MULTIduct™ can be safely and quickly installed with minimal skills and tools in one operation.
Other installation applications for MULTIduct™ include under track and road crossings, tunnels, multi-banks, buried cable routes and bridge crossings. Cubis recently provided such application for the M8, M73 and M74 improvement scheme for Transport Scotland. Click here for the full case study.
The Highways UK ‘Roads for a Modern Britain’ exhibition is a free to enter event bringing together those responsible for the planning, designing, building, maintaining, operating and future-proofing of the UK's road network. Cubis will be available throughout the event showcasing it’s range of Network Access Chambers and Cable Protection infrastructure products.
